Welcome to the Limb Salvage Program, an integrated, multidisciplinary initiative dedicated to addressing Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia (CLTI) and the complex complications of the diabetic foot. Our program is structured as a Center of Excellence, combining the expertise of multiple specialties to provide comprehensive patient care and significantly reduce major amputation rates in our region.
Our Mission: Maximizing Ulcer-Free, Hospital-Free, and Activity-Rich Days
"Successful limb salvage requires addressing vascular, mechanical, and soft tissue issues simultaneously. Our program is built on four key operational components that allow us to manage the full continuum of care, from acute crisis to long-term remission:"
| Component | Focus | Goal |
Rapid Vascular Referral | Acute/Urgent Inpatient Care | Rapid consultation with vascular surgeons is required to restore blood flow and maximize healing potential. |
| Wound Healing Clinic | Outpatient Care for Tissue Loss | Determine the etiology of the wound (neuropathic, ischemic, or neuro-ischemic) and accelerate wound closure to remission. |
Remission Clinic | Post-Healing Surveillance | Maximize ulcer-free, hospital-free, and activity-rich days through individualized education, off-loading, and active monitoring. |
| Screening Clinics
| Prevention and Triage | Identify at-risk patients, perform comprehensive foot examinations, and triage them into appropriate healing, remission, or acute therapeutic programs. |
The Value of Our Multidisciplinary Team
"Limb salvage is an effort requiring the expertise of multiple specialties. Our team ensures the coordinated management of all critical patient needs: vascular disease, glycemic control, local wound management, and infection control."
